  1. Director & Producer  -  WILTON MARTINEZ, Ph.D.

  2. Wilton is a Peruvian filmmaker and visual anthropologist. He has a doctoral degree in social anthropology and a master’s degree in visual anthropology from the University of Southern California. Wilton has been making documentaries since 1984 and has over twenty years of experience as a visual anthropology consultant with educational and development organizations in various countries. In addition to Transnational Fiesta, he has produced films on topics such as oral history, cultural identity, indigenous knowledge, transnationalism, music, dance and performance among indigenous peoples in the Amazon and Andean  regions, Sri Lanka, the U.S., and other countries. His professional website, ethnovisions.net, is featured in specialized sites and used as a teaching resource by scholars across the world. Wilton is the founding president of the Center for Visual Anthropology of Peru.


  3. Co-producer & Researcher  -  PAUL H. GELLES, Ph.D.

  4. Paul is an anthropologist with a master’s degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica of Lima and a doctoral degree from Harvard University.  He lived and carried out research in Cabanaconde from 1987 through 1988. Since making Transnational Fiesta: 1992, he has returned to Cabanaconde ten times. A former professor of anthropology at the University of California, he is the author of a book about Cabanaconde, Water and Power in Highland Peru (Rutgers, 2000). He has published widely on other aspects of Andean society and is the co-translator of Andean Lives (Texas, 1996), a widely used text now  in its fourth printing.
